She believed in fairytales and happily-ever-afters up until her father passed away and she saw how gray her world was, how the love she thought her parents had was all a lie.

Moreover, she was having a writer crisis where the words didn’t come to her and she needed to write this book now more than ever because she was also without money. But her boyfriend of six years broke up with her as well. Not only did she lose her father, who as I mentioned before, was cheating on her mother and January only found out after he died. January had gone through so much in the past year. I think the author wanted us to love each character for who they are and not because of who they became when they were together.

The romance is not the plot of this book. I don’t think that the premise of this book revolves around romance. Yes, this is a romance book, but it was so different in a way that I find hard to explain.

Little does she know that she’s into way more than she bargained for. They are both going through somewhat of a writer’s block, January more than Augustus Everett, and they decide to help each other by making a deal. And if that wasn’t enough she gets to find out that her neighbor is her archnemesis from college who is a very successful author, and who she still despises. After writing three books, losing her father, being dumped by her boyfriend, January finds herself without any money, and moving into the beach house of her cheating father (whom she recently found out was cheating after he passed away). In this book, we follow the story of January Andrews following the death of her father who she loved very much. It was a little unexpected, the way the story turned and developed but overall a great story. This was such a cute read, but not at all what I was expecting. I’d just stopped trying to glow in the dark for him, or anyone else.”
